Valley AIDS Council:

Site visit conducted – positive visit.  VAC has decided to become a partner in HIV case management.  Have 70+ clients on whom they will begin to collect data.  Plan to purchase SPSS to aide in data collection.  Training by AETC with Dr. Garcia, Jain, Nuchavich has been scheduled.  New employee Eneri will replace Pepe Cervantes.  100% connection with clients referred to VAC.  VAC staff will conduct two site visits with La Clinica del Valle and Brownsville to meet with nurses.  Developing a newsletter for local distribution updating staff and collaborators about project activities.  Training planned for nurses so they can be certified for HIV testing.  SPNS nurses at clinics will participate in HIV case management staffing on a weekly basis.  Yolanda advised they are planning QOL training for staff.  Planning additional training for providers and anticipate qualitative interviews with providers will be completed by August.  Dr. Sinclair has conducted 3-training sessions with physicians in Valley since February.  Doctors have expressed strong desire for added training.  Will be talking with Ledia about nurses’ request for nurse specific training which Texas AETC does not provide.  Bob said training for nurses should be easy to arrange through VAC.  Bob can either bring down AETC nurses to provide training or he has two trained nurses who can also provide training locally to other partner clinic nurses as well.

HRSA Issues:

Robyn suggested this time be used to discuss publications.  Tony said he has sent David an e-mail regarding plans for dissemination committee.  He is suggesting that dissemination be addressed during the August meeting.  Mari said they have been involved in projects involving multi-site dissemination policies which she is willing to share with projects.  Tony said Barbara has also provided some sample policies.  Tony asked David to send information to all projects.  David said a July 9th conference call is tentatively scheduled which would involve the designated person for each project.  David said it was set for 2:00 pm OKC time.  Betty will set-up conference call as well as obtain an agenda from Tony.
