Evaluation Issues:
Abstract – Betty asked the grantees if they would agree to allowing the University of Oklahoma submit an abstract in behalf of the Border Grantees for the Bi-National HIV Border Conference to be held in September 2002 in Tucson. The abstract would be on lessons learned, which would be similar to the information provided at the Border Grantees Meeting in July and All Titles Meeting in August. Group agreed to have OU submit an abstract for the Border Grantees. Some grantees again expressed concern about being able to attend as they have not travel funds for dissemination. Steve Trujillo advised grantees that two scholarships for each project would be available through the conference planning committee. He recommended that grantees apply for a scholarship. Adan said that anyone going to Barcelona for the International AIDS Conference to present a poster can give the information to his/her project officer. There could be a gathering for those who are presenting for their projects in Barcelona and the project officers while in Barcelona.
HRSA Update:
Adan Cajina reminded grantees that their continuation proposals are due at HRSA by May 24, 2002. The Evaluation Center application is due May 30, 2002. He also reminded the projects about attending the Ryan White Care Act Grantee Conference. Questions were asked about funding for attending the conference due to high registration fees ($350.00) and other travel related expenses. Adan said that the budget for each project allows for traveling for two conferences for dissemination. The projects pointed out that travel budget to go to two conferences in a year is actually for attending the Grantee Meetings held in January and August each year. Adan said that he will look into the matter.
