Dissemination (Tony Estrada) (following is an exert of recommendations from Barbara Estrada)
My task from the last conference call was to write down some topics that would assist grantees in formulating plans for publication so we could discuss at the next call, and thereby get prepared for the meeting in January. I thought about it and drafted some ideas. Interesting, the items I thought folks should be generating in preparation for the calls and meeting looked very much like the "data request and plan form" developed by the P&D committee. So, I would like to suggest that the grantees each begin to fill out a form and submit it to the P&D committee. The committee can have conference calls separate from the regular calls to discuss the forms. The P&D committee can "report back" during the regular calls. The goal would be to have finalized and approved forms to guide the publication work group in January. After all, if there is no "data request and plan forms" in the works, we really do not have much to discuss at the meeting, right? I do not think grantees should see this as overly ambitious, rather the next step in the dissemination plan of the SPNS project as a whole - something I think we have already agreed to. Please let me know what you think. Feel free to send this information (or a version of it) out to the grantees for discussion on the next call in October.

David Barney said that he had received the submission from Tony and that he and Saleem would also be working on a submission.  Mari, John and NMX will also be submitted requests.  Barbara will be revising her request to be more specific. All requests will be posted to the web once they are received.

Barbara stated that we should explore allowing some time at the January meeting to discuss local dissemination topics.  Tim will talk to Betty about the time allotment.

Tim proposed that when topics/requests are posted to the webpage that they be separated into local v. multi-site, with corresponding links.

·         Many unanticipated issues came up in part due to the fact that CdV is not a medical clinic; also due to the number of sites where clients are seen (17); also due to the fact that some clients are being seen primary care physicians.

·         If we could do it differently, we would have met before sending any consultants out and we would have had them travel the first day together.

·         All in all, it was a very good learning experience.  The consultants have agreed to summarize strengths/weaknesses/highlights for us and then we are going to touch base after they do AZ and CA.

·         The team at CdV really pulled together to get the chart reviews done.

·         Missed opportunity to collect data on recently diagnosed individual; Individual was enrolled into CdV 2 weeks after receiving results; We will work on this in the future.
